Wait, what are SSD and HDD? What are the difference between SSD and HDD? Why do we need that on our computer? Does it make our computer faster? Is it affordable? OK, Hold the phone! SSD and HDD are basically storage for computer or laptops but they have a huge difference. In this topic we will tackle all your question.
SSD can usually be found in Ultrabook or one of those MacBook Air while HDD can be found on your pc or you rregular laptop. Solid-state drive has access speed of 35 to 100 microseconds. With that being said your laptop will run faster which is very significant especially the amount of data often like your operating system while HDD takes about 5,000 to 10,00 microseconds to access your data.
The price. Solid-state drive usually cost more than the regular hard drive, which is why some of the computers that have SSD only have a few hundreds of gigabytes of storage and have a limited number of read and write session based on the quality of the flash memory. HDD on the other hand is cheaper than SSD but it has movable parts. They are prone to wear and tear can lead to hardware failure. SSD drive has no moving parts and uses a flash memory to store your data and provides better performance over and HDD while HDD has magnetic platters meaning the more you use it the faster they will fail.
So which of these drives are perfect one for you? The major factors are the price and the durability of the drive. If you are using a laptop and you take it anywhere and that is strong enough then SSD is the right one for you. But on the other hand, if you’re a desktop user or use it as an external storage then the HDD fits perfectly for you.
At the end of the day its always your decision which storage you will choose. The cheaper (but not that slower) that has moving parts and relies magnetism to write information and uses strong magnet or the more expensive the better.
