One thing I always hear from people when talking about refurbished electronics is that “oh, I would never buy refurbished Dell Laptop cause one thing for sure is that it has been used and damage”. Actually an item marked refurbished is often an item returned by the original buyer. According to www.dealnews.com “Devices can be returned for a whole host of reasons and the bottom line is consumer can’t know why something was returned. If you’re not really into brand new the best reason is to buy refurbished items. Customers can always save a huge money typically between 10% -30% on any refurbished goods.
According to the Managing Editor of the Technology Guide says that beyond cost saving, the refurbished products actually go through a higher level of control. “Vendors will put it through tests to make sure that whatever the returnee didn’t like is the only problem, and then they’ll do what they must to fix the system. Hard drives are wiped clean and the operating system is freshly installed. Then the system gets tested and verified again, just like it did before it went out in the first place. It goes into a fresh box and is put out for sale. Legally, it can’t be called brand-new, and that means it typically sells at a lower price, even though, for all intents and purposes, it is new” PC Magazine describe why you shouldn’t worry too much about refurbished items.
